One of them had a high-top fade that at one time stood 10 inches tall while the other had a smooth, slick 'stache that he often used to get ladies attention. Their characters weren't just polar opposites; the real Kid 'n Play grew up as different as night and day but came together to create classic hip-hop that still have us on our feet when somebody cranks up one of their jams at a cookout.
The were compared to DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince because not only were Kid 'n Play another duo, but they were seen as the good guys of hip-hop. Sure they talked about girls and parties, but they were refreshing for parents who worried about hip-hop and rap negatively influencing their kids.
During their career from 1988 to 1995, Kid 'n Play released three albums — two of which were certified gold — and ten singles, two of which reached No. 1 on the rap charts. The pair quickly became both music and movie stars, and they're responsible for Martin Lawrence and Tisha Campbell acting together before getting together for "Martin."
