The newest app craze, Pokémon Go, seems to be causing a lot of trouble as of late. From car accidents to trespassing… the mobile game seems to be keeping its players easily distracted.
Everyone is getting caught up in the Pokémon Go frenzy!
Iowa defensive lineman, Faith Ekakitie, posted to Facebook Wednesday: “(I) feared for my life...” when he was surrounded by police officers as he pulled up to an Iowa City park. Ekakitie was in the middle of playing Pokémon Go.
Ekakitie stated that he matched the description of a suspect who robbed a nearby bank just minutes earlier. The suspect was described as being a large black male, wearing all black with something on his head.
The lineman, who was wearing black goggles on his head, also wrote that he didn’t notice the police coming toward him nor did he hear the officer’s orders because he was playing loud music through his headphones.
According to his Facebook post; the cops drew their guns and approached Ekakitie when he did not respond to their request to turn around and put his hands up.
Faith must have been so focused on the Pokémon Go game, that he did not see law enforcement coming his way. This game seems to be more of a curse than a free gift!
“My pockets were checked, my backpack was opened up and searched carefully, and I was asked to lift up my shirt while they searched my waistband,” Ekakitie posted.
“Misunderstandings happen all the time and just like that things can go south very quickly....” Ekakitie wrote.
Contrary to Alton Sterling, Philando Castile and a number of other victims--Faith Ekakitie is lucky to have made it out of this situation unharmed…
