After baking a bunch of clubgoers into a cherry pie for her "Bon Appetit" video, Katy Perry has found her next victim: her old nemesis, Taylor Swift.
That's right: Katy's years-old beef with T-Swizzle has risen from the dead in a new bop called "Swish Swish," the latest single off her "purposeful pop" album Witness. This time, Katy's brought Nicki Minaj along for the ride, too.
While Katy hasn't confirmed that the song is a diss track, the lyrics are suspiciously shady...
Here are some of the juiciest lines:
"A tiger don’t lose no sleep / Don’t need opinions from a selfish or a sheep."
As BuzzFeed pointed out, Katy's *probably* referring to herself as the tiger and Taylor as the sheep. For one thing, Katy used tiger imagery HEAVILY in her "Roar" video...
.... and who can forget when Katy referred to Taylor as a "Regina George in SHEEP's clothing" back in 2014?
"So keep calm, honey, I’ma stick around for more than a minute, get used to it / Funny my name keeps comin’ out your mouth, ‘cause I stay winning."
In these lines, Katy's probably calling Taylor out for constantly bringing up their feud (and playing the victim) in her own songs and interviews.
(Like, remember the "Bad Blood" video where Taylor and her Girl Squad™ took on a Katy lookalike? Katy remembers.)
And Nicki — who's also not particularly fond of Taylor — reignites her own feud with fellow rapper Remy Ma on "Swish Swish," spitting lines like this in her verse:
"Silly rap beefs just get me more checks / My life is a movie, I’m never off set."
(We're not sure if Nicki can do *anything* to bounce back from Remy's "shETHER," but apparently she's still trying.)
Taylor and Remy haven't said a peep about "Swish Swish" yet, but one of Taylor's pals quickly came to her defense after the song dropped Thursday night.
" 'Purposeful poop' to "bomb a petit' to a sloppy mess of writing over the top of Funkagenda..stop trying to make 'Wit..I mean 'fetch' happen," tweeted Orange Is The New Black actress Ruby Rose. Yikes!
She followed that up with another tweet bemoaning Katy's alleged diss track: "I just think with everything going on in the world to go from rebranding as political activist only to ditch it and go low.. is.. a bummer," Ruby Rose wrote.
Here's what the rest of Twitter has to say about "Swish Swish." (Spoiler alert: EVERYONE is convinced that it's a bona fide diss track. 😳)
