Much like any person who is constantly in the limelight, Oprah Winfrey is a generally private person. So many were surprised to find that she talked so candidly with Vogue Magazine about her long-term relationship with Stedman Graham.
Since the mid-1980s, Graham and Winfrey have been in a pretty solid relationship and have been seen together ever since. But here, some 30 years later, the two haven't, and don't seem to have any intention of jumping the broom.
When asked by Jonathan Meter of Vogue about what not getting married taught her, Oprah said, "Live life on your own terms."
She later delved more in depth about her relationship when asked by Vogue what would happen if the couple did wed, detailing, "We would not have stayed together, because marriage requires a different way of being in this world. His interpretation of what it means to be a husband and what it would mean for me to be a wife would have been pretty traditional, and I would not have been able to fit into that."
So it would seem that Winfrey doesn't want to be tied down by the expectations of Stedman Graham, who might have wanted a wife to be subservient to a certain extent, which is usually what people refer to as a "traditional wife."
Since the two began dating, many saw Stedman as a gold digger, due to him making significantly less than his partner. But that isn't to say that Stedman doesn't bring in his own coins. Not only is he the CEO of his own company, but he currently has a net worth of $10 million.
However, Oprah Winfrey takes the cake with $3.2 billion as her net worth. But even still, they're one of the richest duos in the world.
How do you feel about their relationship? Should they not worry about marriage and just focus on the here and now?
