After Lil Wayne was reportedly hospitalized for seizures over the weekend, the rapper's daughter has a reassuring (albeit cautionary) message for his concerned fans.
“My dad is doing fine everyone ! Thanks for the concerns. You guys are amazing," 18-year-old Reginae Carter tweeted Monday morning. "Oh yeah .. & don't believe everything you hear.”
As TMZ first reported, the 34-year-old rapper was forced to cancel his Sunday night gig in Las Vegas after he was hospitalized for seizures in Chicago early that morning. Insiders told the gossip site that Weezy was found unconscious in a Michigan Avenue hotel room after suffering from at least one seizure and was rushed to a local hospital, where he had a second minor seizure.
While Lil Wayne's team reportedly attempted to get him released from the hospital on Sunday afternoon so his Vegas gig with Rae Sremmurd could go on as planned, doctors advised against it and encouraged him to avoid air travel, as he previously suffered seizures on a June 2016 flight.
Lil Wayne was first hospitalized for seizures back in 2013, an incident that some have linked to the rapper's longtime penchant for lean, as codeine can trigger the condition.
However, Lil Wayne chalked up his seizures to a standard case of epilepsy:
"The bad news is I'm an epileptic, I'm prone to seizures," he said during a 2013 radio interview. "Like, this isn't my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh seizure. I've had a bunch of seizures, y'all just never hear about them.
”But this time it got real bad 'cause I had three of them in a row and on the third one, my heart rate went down to like 30 percent," he added at the time. "Basically, I could've died, so that is why it was so serious. But the reason being for the seizures is just plain stress, no rest, overworking myself."
Though his condition is well-known at this point, Lil Wayne's most recent bout of seizures came as somewhat of a surprise: TMZ said he was "a ball of energy" and "the picture of health" at his concerts in St. Petersburg and Chicago on Friday and Saturday night, respectively.
He even performed an extra ten minutes at the former show:
Weezy is reportedly "resting" in the wake of his latest health scare, as his reps told TMZ. Get well soon, Weezy!
