A gym owner in Atlanta has no love for the po-po.
That's why Jim Chambers of EAV Barbell Club boldly posted a sign outside his gym that reads -- "No f---ing cops."
You can imagine the backlash he's getting. But Chambers, who's also banned active members of the military from joining, doesn't give a damn.
“We’ve had an explicitly stated ‘No Cop’ policy since we opened,” Chambers told 11Alive. “If they have a warrant, they can go anywhere they want, but we’re not breaking the law.”
Chambers, who is white, says the ban is all about pleasing his minority clientele. Most of the people who work out at the gym don't want to be in the same vicinity as uniformed officers... if they don't have to be.
And Chambers says, with all that's going on in the country, can you blame them?!
He recently posted to Instagram: "#MikeBrown was murdered three years ago today, by a savage with a gun operating above the law. Remember his name forever. #whywebancops #blacklivesmatter #copfreezones."
Atlanta PD is aware of the story and would only say, "Were we to respond to an emergency there, this sign would not stop us from lawfully doing our job."
Despite his defiance, Chambers has removed the sign... but says a family-friendly "No Cop" version will go up... and stay up as long as he's in business.
